Aka Matsuba fit into the Kawari group. Kawari is one of the largest koi classifications and it means non metallic.
Aka Matsuba are a red Koi (aka means red) with a black pinecone pattern (matsuba means pinecone). There shouldn't be black or black speckeling on the head. When buying a Aka Matsuba, make sure that the net pattern is equal all over the Koi.
Look for any discolored scales or old scars. The Hi should be very deep.
