Spring and Fall clean outs are very important and should be done every season. In the fall your pond should be free of debris, water plants such as water lilies and water hyacinth should be trimmed back or removed. Leaf nets should be installed to help keep your pond clean during the winter months and this helps to ensure your fish come into the spring without any problems from poor water quality. Besides keeping leaves from entering your pond the netting is also useful as a predator deterrent like the blue heron from entering your pond.
