Japan Daily 10/05 - USA Koi

Here are some pictures from when I arrived on the 6th.

Bullet Train Digital map to Nagaoka on the Narita Express.

Up close and personal with a bullet train at Toyko station. Inside of the train this LED map shows you what time it is where you are going and when you will get there.

On the Narita Express heading toward Tokyo Station. Lizard of some sort hanging in a koi net.

The first picture is I took from the train and I'm not sure if it is a temple or not and the second is of one of the many crawly things you see here.

Outside of Otsuka's koi house. Old school Japanese lady across from Otsuka's koi house.

Most of the breeders are starting to harvest or getting ready to start over the next few days. These were taken at Otsuka where the tanks are empty for now.

Manaka at Suda's koi farm. Culls, culls and more culls!

At Suda they are still busy culling along with everything else.

Some of the hopefuls that will stay in Japan another year and some that will be coming back to NJ.

Koi & Pond Tip of the Day
May 16th, 2008
Filters that have not had water circulating through them for the winter should be cleaned well before turning the pump back on this spring. Cleaning will remove toxins that can develop from waste breaking down in the filter in the absence of oxygen. Once your filter is up and running, seed it with beneficial bacteria.
